Highlights
Central Location, Dog-Friendly, Plenty of Character
Known as the ‘gateway to the South West’, Shaftesbury is a thriving market town rich in Saxon history. At the heart of the town you’ll find The Grosvenor Arms, a stylish coaching inn with striking Georgian archways and wooden floors.
The historic building houses 16 boutique-style en-suite bedrooms, ranging from cosy doubles to the Balcony Suite (with its freestanding roll top bath and large private terrace). There are plenty of things to see and do locally, especially if you fancy taking a stroll in the beautiful British countryside. Canine companion in tow? No problem – The Grosvenor Arms prides itself on being dog friendly. Your four-legged friend can even join you in the hotel's stylish bar. Rumour has it that the bar staff can make a mean Martini and a fabulous Bloody Mary. So sink into a leather armchair by the wood-burner or grab yourself a drink and take a seat in the honeyed stone courtyard.
Dining At The Grosvenor Arms
You can eat all day, every day in the main restaurant. The charming dining room is decorated in dreamy, muted grey tones and there's a relaxed ambience throughout. Menus are created by Executive Chef Tom Blake, known for his background at the famous River Cottage. So it’s no surprise that the hotel offers seasonal menus with an emphasis on locally sourced produce. Expect wood-fired pizzas topped with British charcuterie, dry aged steak and gourmet burgers.
