The Ethicurean is an ethically conscious restaurant, bar and kitchen tucked away in a Victorian walled garden with expansive views of the Mendip hills. Two rustic, informal glasshouses have been beautifully restored within the lush grounds to create a tranquil venue where like-minded people can gather together and enjoy good food and good conversation.

The restaurant is founded on a 'sense of place', meaning it strives to have a meaningful connection with the land around it and the community that grows its produce. Dishes celebrate the richness of the local soil and pay tribute to the wonders of the plant kingdom. The Ethicurean's delicious flavour combinations no doubt work well because the ingredients have been partnered for centuries. However, the kitchen team are always looking for ways to update and innovate historical recipes.

Drinks have been made onsite for more than a decade. The nearby orchard provides dessert fruit and apples that are pressed into tasty juice and scrumpy. Likewise, the kitchen produces a wide range of ‘gut friendly’ drinks, such as kombuchas, kvass’s and kefirs. The bar is often alive with experimentation and you'll be spoilt for choice when selecting your tipple.
