The Queensberry Hotel brands itself as ‘not what you might expect’, a claim we’re happy to back up. Set in a characterful Georgian townhouse in the centre of Bath, you won’t miss this boutique hotel as it brandishes its name in beautiful stained glass above the door. But despite its elegant and traditional facade, inside is a contemporary and stylish affair. Bedrooms are chic with a touch of eccentricity and no two rooms are the same. The hotel's owners – husband and wife team Laurence and Helen Beere – have succeeded in creating a luxurious place to stay that has real individuality. We love their tasteful art deco-inspired interiors, plush velvet sofas and the quirky cartoon prints that adorn its walls.
Downstairs in The Olive Tree Restaurant, chef Chris Cleghorn leads a young and supremely talented team of chefs. With tasting menus of six or nine courses and a wine list that's as long as your arm, its easy to see how The Olive Tree has earned its 3 AA Rosettes and is currently the only Michelin star restaurant in Bath.
Maverick Tip: The Old Q Bar may be small but it's perfectly formed. We recommend heading here for a pre-dinner tipple, as they offer everything from classic cosmopolitans to small batch whiskeys and wines by the glass.
