Porthminster Beach, St Ives, Cornwall TR26 2EB
Seafood, Asian & Mediterranean Inspired Dishes
Sophisticated Dining, Stunning Views, Beachside Location
Porthminster Beach Café offers one of the most memorable dining experiences in the whole of the UK. Occupying an Art Deco-style whitewashed building overlooking a pristine beach – and with far-reaching views of St Ives Bay – the restaurant boasts a glass-encased terrace to rival the most sophisticated spots in the Med.
Executive Chef Michael Smith and his talented brigade focus on seafood, but not exclusively; locally-reared meat features all year-round but more so in the winter, when fish supplies can suffer from rough weather. Produce grown in a unique coastal kitchen garden behind the restaurant adds an extra element of fresh flavour, as does foraged ingredients sourced from the coast path and shoreline.
Signature dishes include an Indonesian-style Monkfish Curry, Salt & Pepper Squid, and Coconut Poached Gurnard. The interesting and extensive wine list has been specially crafted to provide plenty of matching opportunities with seafood.
Book early, especially in the summer. Open every breakfast, lunch and dinner for most of the year (closes occasionally for maintenance).
