Tucked on Fowey’s Fore Street, in a duck-egg blue, renovated townhouse is the notoriously sleek Appleton’s restaurant. Andy Appleton, a familiar name to locals and nine-years' Head Chef at Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen Cornwall’, paired up with his partner Lyndsey to offer authentic Italian cooking to the harbourside Cornish town. Sharing an Italian devotion to good ingredients and simple dishes, Appleton’s serves contemporary variations of rustic recipes using ingredients only at their peak in season.
On reading the menu, Appleton’s passion for Italian cuisine is clear, but it also has its feet set firmly in Cornwall. We see Italian methods used with the finest Cornish produce – think Burrata with mixed Cornish meats, home-grown-mushroom potato gnocchi and zucchini flowers stuffed with local lobster. The result is a menu of uncomplicated, downright delicious dishes that proudly highlight the best ingredients from Italy and the South West.
Settle down on a stool in Appleton’s bar, stocked by wine lovers, snack on sage and anchovy crispy bits and sip on elegant cocktails whilst you build up your appetite. We recommend the winning Negroni Rosa, Appleton’s signature cocktail, a bittersweet, floral blend made with organic Cornish rose gin and rose petal ice cubes.
