Perfectly situated between two of Cornwall’s heritage coasts and not far from Falmouth, The Cove is one of the region’s most well positioned dining spots. The family-friendly restaurant was recently taken over by Michelin-star chef Michael Caines and offers relaxed dining in a beach setting, looking out over the sloping sandy bay of Maenporth.
The star of The Cove is its sunny outdoor terrace, where lines of smart tables on glass-enclosed decking look out to sea. It’s equipped with both thick blankets for crisp winter mornings and shady parasols for summer afternoons. Share a glass of bubbly al fresco and take in the views in the sea air. Inside stunning vistas of the horizon also take centre stage thanks to the restaurant’s glass front, filling the space with natural light.
Menus show off a range of Cornish ingredients, giving diners a taste of the rich array of seasonal produce from the region. Seafood comes from local suppliers and is served in tantalising dishes such as Cornish mackerel with lime, honey and soy, or Pan-fried Cornish scallops with caramalised cauliflower and raisin. There's also a vegan menu, a veggie menu and even sumptuous tasting menus. However, being as close as it is to the beach, The Cove has an informal approach to dining, meaning its friendly atmosphere is casual enough to just order a good Cornish cod and chips.
